Mount Snow To Do The Dew
Vermont's Mount Snow announced this month that some of the planet's best freestyle skiers and snowboarders will converge on their slopes January 8-11 for the AST Winter Dew Tour. It will be the tour's only stop on the East Coast. The announcement comes on the heels of Mount Snow’s decision to turn its Carinthia mountain face into a massive, 95-acre terrain park system, making it the largest freestyle destination in the East. For more info on the tour, check out www.ast.com.

New Massachusetts Outdoor Rec Map Out
The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation has a newly designed and updated outdoor recreation map now available. The map shows locations of state wildlife management areas, state parks and forests, state urban parks and state water supply lands that are open to the public for selected outdoor activities. The map is online, and maps will be available for pick up at MassWildlife offices, many DCR parks and forests and selected highway visitor information centers.

Chris Burton captured this photo of a kayaker riding the Steep Falls Wave during the 420 Rodeo in Steep Falls, Maine, in April. The informal rodeo was held to honor kayaker Larry "Big Air Lar" Seidl, who died in a car accident last year. Check out this and other photos from Chris in our Photo Gallery. You can also check out video from the 420 Rodeo at www.youtube.com/nug919.

TRY THIS:  Algonquin Trail, NH
Near New Hampshire's Waterville Valley, the Algonquin Trail cuts through the western portion of the Sandwich Range Wilderness. Along the way, this strenuous route rewards hikers with some tremendous views. The trail - featuring plenty of open ledges - climbs over Black Mountain and continues on to ascend Sandwich Dome, which is just shy of 4,000 feet but has better views than many higher peaks.
