Resorts Ban Burton Boards For Employees
A number of resorts
are banning their employees from riding two controversial styles of
Burton snowboards.
According to a report
in the
Burlington Free Press earlier this month, Killington Resort,
Pico Mountain and Stowe Mountain Resort joined Smugglers’ Notch and
Sugarbush in prohibiting employees from riding Burton’s Love and Primo
snowboard models while on duty. The boards in question feature partially
nude graphics of Playboy centerfolds and cartoon images of mutilation.
The two models are limited edition boards and fewer than 2,000 of them
have been produced.
In Killington’s
official response, the resort stops short of banning the boards entirely
on the mountain, but does prohibit staff from using them.
