Mountains For Mountain Bikers

Come summer, many of the area's top ski resorts transform into mountain-biking Meccas, featuring some of the best trails in the east and resort comforts to cap off your ride.

Sunday RiverMaine – The Sunday River Mountain Bike Park offers 15 trails and 20 miles of lift serviced riding with varying difficulty levels and terrain ranging from open work roads to single track. The Chondola on South Ridge runs to the top of North Peak to serve the mountain bike trail network.

Catamount Ski AreaMassachusetts – Set in the Berkshires, Catamount has terrain for cross-country and downhill riders, including top to bottom singletrack in varying degrees of difficulty from intermediate to expert as well as open trail DH and XC. Their single-track trails feature several man-made and natural obstacles including bridging ride-overs, step-ups, down-ladder bridges, table-tops, launches of varying intensity and depth, hip and wall rides, switchback berms and assist bridges, and a signature log ride created by Wild Bill Markham.

AttitashNew Hampshire – Experience the adrenaline rush of racing down a mountain on two wheels, or taking a casual ride along the Saco. From world-class, lift-accessed downhill terrain, to singletrack and cross country trails and shuttle service to the White Mountain National Forest, Attitash offers over 20 miles of mountain biking for all abilities.

Mount SnowVermont – Billing itself as the mountain-bike capital of the east, Mount Snow has over 45 miles of mountain bike terrain consisting of singletrack, old town roads and ski trails. The Canyon Express will drop you off atop a number of trail descents with tons of rocks, roots, trees and drops offs to challenge all abilities of downhill enthusiasts. Drop down "Slick Rock" where you’ll have numerous options including "Big Rock" or "Snakebike." Newbies, check out "Newby Road," a beginner downhill that winds down the Snowdance ski trail. Experts will enjoy the grit your teeth challenge of the infamous, "Pucker Alley."

Jiminy PeakMassachusetts – Jiminy has trails for singletrack and downhill, and some mountain-biking experience is necessary.
