Welcome to Six
States, the online magazine for New England outdoor
adventure. No place in North America has the volume of diverse
outdoor adventure opportunities that we enjoy in New England.
Here you can kayak Maine's coastal islands, run whitewater
rapids, trek the White Mountains, ski the northern peaks, mountain bike the hills of
Vermont, surf Block Island, or just
chill on one of Cape Cod’s sandy beaches. New England offers
everyone the
chance to experience virtually any outdoor sport, and all
within a day’s drive. To that end, Six States is dedicated to
covering the activities, people, sports and news of the New
England outdoors.
On this website you’ll find feature stories that
inspire New Englanders to take up their own adventures. We’ll
have news stories and profiles about issues, people and
organizations that impact the region’s recreation and
environment. And since few things are better after a long hike
or a day of skiing than enjoying a fine brew, we’ll have stories
that celebrate the vibrant culture of breweries and unique pubs in the
Northeast. If you are interested in writing for us, check out
