Jacobellis Takes SBX World Cup Opener
New England riders Shaw and Cheever also make the Top 10.

Vermont's Lindsey Jacobellis busted open the snowboardcross World Cup season in a way only the three-time X Games gold medalist could dominating a stacked international field to win the first race in the eight competition season schedule in Argentina on September 13.

The win marked Jacobellis' 15th World Cup career victory. "I'm happy. I'm a competitive girl so if I start I want to win. Now, I can go home and tell my coach that he did a great job," Jacobellis said.

Jacobellis was followed by Connecticut's Brooke Shaw in sixth. On the men's side, another New Englander Jonathan Cheever of Saugus, Massachusetts finished sixth. It was Cheever's highest placing yet in World Cup competition.

The snowboardcross World Cup competition continues in December in Arosa, Switzerland.
