Six States Updates

7.24.07
Skiing? In July?

Well, you're not going to be shredding anytime soon. But the world of snow is beginning to stir.

The Meat’s Almost Done
The Northeast’s gnarliest creators of ski porn are busy putting the finishing touches on their newest project. The trailer for the Meathead Films flick Wanderland is due out any day. It chronicles the adventures of the Vermont-based Meatheads as they skied New York’s Tug Hill Plateau and the Long Range Mountains in Newfoundland, Canada last winter. They’re also busy revamping their website, giving it a new look plus new features such as a weekly podcast and public commentary and input.

Saddleback Make-Over
Saddleback Ski Area in Rangeley, Maine, recently received the thumbs-up from the state’s Land Use Regulation Commission to move forward on a 10-year plan to develop a four-season resort village and to build nine new lifts and associated trails, snowmaking and skier facilities. Saddleback reps say they will craft an environmentally conscious recreational resort. Saddleback owns 8,000 acres of mountains and lakes, and, according to Saddleback reps, most of that will remain untouched wilderness. The first phase of the development plan includes construction of the Magalloway lift and trail network; new trails in the high-elevation False Peak advanced area; an amenities center with indoor pool, spa and fitness center; tubing park; and tennis courts. Trailside lodging will be expanded. Further phases of development at Saddleback include continued real estate offerings, two inns, a hotel, village amenities, additional lift and trail systems and two-day lodges. Snowmaking will expand with trail development.
