Winter Review: Snow (And Records) Fell
A winter that saw the
snow fall early and often also saw skiers and snowboarders hit the
slopes in record numbers.
According to a report
in today's
Burlington Free Press, ski resorts across northern New England
reported record attendance during the winter of 2007-08.
Okemo Mountain, in Ludlow,
Vermont, reported a 25 percent increase in attendance from the winter of
2006-07. And Okemo's skier visits trounced its previous record from the
winter of 2002-03 by 6 percent.
Elsewhere, the Maine
resorts of Sunday River
and Sugarloaf together
had a 21 percent increase in attendance over the previous season, with
each having their highest attendance ever. Also, the resorts of
Mount Cranmore,
Loon Mountain, and
Mount Sunapee all reported
huge increases in attendance. |
