Making A Splash
Paddlers will flock to Connecticut's Willimantic River next
month for the fifth annual Riverfest.
Willimantic,
Connecticut, might not have a whitewater park yet, but paddlers are
already living it up there.
The future site of a planned whitewater
park, the Railroad Museum on the shores of the Willimantic River will
host a bash for kayakers and canoeists next month as the Willimantic
Whitewater Partnership holds its fifth annual Willimantic Riverfest.
The event
—
scheduled for Saturday, May 17 —
will have a little something for everyone. Experienced kayakers who want
to catch air can do so on a kayak kicker ramp. For beginners, there'll
be flatwater competitions. Also at Riverfest will be whitewater
demonstrations, family paddling trips down the river, nature events,
environmental groups, and a Battle of the Bands will provide the tunes.
