02.21.08 Action Heroes Face it: the
Oscars suck. If you tune in Sunday night, maybe you'll laugh at
a Jon Stewart joke or two. Maybe a favorite movie is nominated.
But ultimately you'll waste more than three hours of your life
watching the Academy's self-indulgent film montages, boring
acceptance speeches by assistant make-up artists, and your
favorite film will lose out to some over-polished Hollywood
crapfest.
Instead, that time would be better spent
watching films that'll inspire you to get off that couch and go kick
some ass in the New England outdoors. So we've put together a collection
of some of the best movies and videos to make that happen. They vary

SKIING No big shocker here. Since a
couple of University of Vermont students named Geoff McDonald and Chris
James started Meathead Films a few years ago, they haven't just put
eastern skiing on the ski porn map, they've become a national
phenomenon. Their most recent flick, Wanderland, was nominated for two
